I know it’s an overused question, but I want to know, how are you doing? How do you feel about yourself and your life? If you need support in healing from hurt and trauma, improving coping skills, and cultivating greater self-awareness and self-compassion, let’s meet. I work with individuals and couples to help explore and process their emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs. If you are experiencing trauma, grief, life transitions, family of origin issues, relational issues, anxiety, and depression and want to be supported with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and curiosity, let’s meet.

My clinical approach is rooted in gestalt and person-centered principles while incorporating mindfulness techniques, parts work, and somatic experiencing. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I have been in the healing arts for over 15 years and incorporate somatic and mindfulness techniques to help you achieve your goal.

Initiating this healing journey can be scary, but you are not alone. If you are ready to take a step toward transformation, you can schedule a free, virtual 30-minute meeting to see if we want to work together. https://danettedollisonjohnsonllc.janeapp.com/#/discipline/4/treatment/8

With all the pressures of the world it is easy to get lost in the expectations of others and lose touch with yourself. I hope to offer an empathetic and non-judgmental place where you feel safe to process past trauma and the impact of oppressive systems and begin to reconnect with yourself. I utilize a trauma informed approach that allows you to take things at your own pace. I believe you are the expert on your experience and I hope to collaborate with you to establish and work towards meaningful goals.

My work is rooted in existential theory and utilizes CBT, DBT, ACT, parts work, mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, Socratic questioning, and expressive arts. I am a proud member of the queer community and believe that trans rights are human rights. I believe that we must be anti-racist and work hard to dismantle the biases we hold. I strive to create a safe space for people of all identities.

I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University.

I work with creative high-capacity individuals, and couples with traumas and attachment wounding who hide behind achievement, competence, and overfunctioning. Many of my clients are intelligent, creative, and outwardly successful. Inside, they may feel anxious, disconnected, or quietly exhausted from holding so much alone. I help adults and couples who look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in painful relationship patterns. My work integrates EMDR, Brainspotting, AIT, EFT, somatic, and expressive arts therapies. I offer virtual trauma therapy in LA, TX, OH, MN, and AZ and in person in Metairie, LA

I work with artists, musicians, creatives, therapists, and people wanting deep meaningful experiential trauma therapy, including those living with chronic illness and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. My specialization is informed by lived experience as a creative, high-capacity professional navigating trauma and chronic illness, alongside extensive clinical training.

Finley, therapy dog extraordinaire, offers grounding support in in person sessions. I offer traditional 55 minute sessions and intensives. I work to create a therapy space where all parts of you are welcome- identity, spirituality, work and lived experience- through LGBTQ+ affirming, sex worker affirming, anti-racist care.

Meet Finley: Resident Fluffball, Unofficial Greeter, and Full-Time Good Boy

Finley is my four-legged co-therapist — a Bernedoodle with the soul of an old poet, the enthusiasm of a toddler at a birthday party, and the fur of... well, a very fluffy cloud.

Trained in the fine art of snuggles, silent support, and impeccable timing for comedic relief, Finley brings a grounding, gentle presence to sessions. Whether he’s curled up nearby, offering a paw during tough moments, or just reminding you to breathe by being his calm, goofy self — he has an uncanny ability to tune in to human emotions (and also the sound of treat bags crinkling).

Clients often say he helps them feel safer, more relaxed, and more themselves — which makes him a natural fit for the kind of therapy we do here: real, relational, and heartfelt.

He works for belly rubs, praise, and the occasional peanut butter snack. He takes his job very seriously

Our Commitment to You

At the heart of this practice is a deep belief: healing happens in safe, authentic connection. Whether you’re here for individual therapy, couples work, or trauma healing, our commitment is to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and respect — every step of the way.

We honor your lived experience, your pace, and your process. This is a space where all identities are affirmed, where your story is held with care, and where therapy is shaped around you — not a one-size-fits-all model.

We’re dedicated to offering trauma-informed, inclusive, and integrative care that’s rooted in real relationship. No judgment. No pressure. Just steady, skilled support as you explore, grow, and create meaningful change.

You're not just another client here. You're a whole human — and we’re here to walk with you through the messy, beautiful work of becoming.
